FOR PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS
One story on screen. Many discoveries beyond it.
Watch together, listen to your child’s questions, and continue with play, drawing and conversation.
The science of everyday life
Sikalias WhyLab was created to share how science thinks with children and parents: observe, ask questions, examine evidence and recognise what we do not yet know. The series receives scientific editorial oversight from the R&D team at Sikalias Pharmaceutical Laboratories, initiated by pharmacist Stasinos Sikalias. Eirini works in Sikalias R&D.
The initiative is primarily for children aged 4–7 with a grown-up nearby. The children’s area supports education and family conversation, without prompts to buy products. Scientific editorial oversight and educational intention do not establish a measured learning outcome.
Four questions that begin a conversation
- Vitamin C: colour is an observation, rather than proof of composition.
- Calcium: the body needs many partners.
- Iron: a name alone does not explain form and use.
- Zinc: a small amount can matter, and more does not mean better.
Each story has Greek and English narration and selectable subtitles in 13 languages. Watching on the website is free and needs an internet connection.
Six activities away from the screen
- The colourful friends
- The question notebook
- The journey of a drop
- The team drawing
- The food team
- Small things, useful jobs
Activities use age-appropriate materials and require adult supervision.
Five stories to listen to together
- The question that waited
- The basket of different shapes
- The friends’ bridge
- One word, two different ideas
- The windmill’s small part
Five stories, with a Greek and an English recording for each: ten audio files in total. Read the matching text or listen together in the Parent area.
Notes with context and clear limits
Nine bilingual parent notes with 59 sections explain the approach, family use and all four episodes. They distinguish ingredient role, safety for the specific use, environmental behaviour and company formulation choices.
Sikalias Formulated Without concerns reasoned formulation choices with exceptions and conditions. It is not a list of universally dangerous ingredients. A separate “Sun, water and ingredients” note discusses octocrylene as an additional topic, outside the first four episodes.
The stories’ metaphors are not faithful models of the body. For individual questions about nutrition, supplements, allergies or products for your child, consult your paediatrician or pharmacist.
Calm use, with a clear ending
Watch together and try an open question afterwards: “What surprised you?”. On the website, playback starts with your choice and does not automatically continue to another episode. In supported app versions, a parent can choose a finite family list with a total duration and a clear ending.
A gentle weekly rhythm could include one full story and a second encounter with a short clip or an activity. The Parent area offers eight short clips and eight printable cards. Clip captions are selectable or separate files, rather than burned into the picture.

A free website, additional convenience in the app
Knowledge remains open to families. The app adds organisation: episodes saved on the device for offline viewing, favourites, family lists, activities and stories in one place, and AirPlay with compatible equipment. Available features and preinstalled episodes depend on the app version.
Detailed notes, sources and sharing tools open after a simple grown-up step. This supports family use; it is not a user account or private storage.
