Who helps water and oil? — Parent note
The one learning idea
The core idea is tiny droplets of one liquid dispersed in another. Water and cooking oil do not mix easily; shaking can form a temporary dispersion that later separates.
Droplets and emulsifiers
A suitable emulsifier can help stabilise that dispersion. Performance and duration depend on the formula and conditions. The story does not promise that every mixture remains uniform forever.
Model and real formulation
Little helpers and ribbons are an illustrated model, not photographs of molecules or a recording of a measured experiment. Any comparison shown in the animation is a teaching illustration.
Paper and drawing only
The recommended family activity uses paper and pencils only. Closed-bottle demonstrations are handled by a grown-up. Mixtures containing washing-up liquid must not be eaten or applied to skin and are not food or cosmetics. Activity materials avoid allergens such as mustard or egg.
Observation and questions
Discuss a fair comparison: matching containers, amounts, time and movement. Record an unclear result too. The story is not a product-manufacturing or preservation recipe.
