What the pharmacy does when it is not merely a till

The prescription is dispensed. Then care begins: form, device, adherence, the question that does not fit a barcode.

Sikalias Pharmacy is a family pharmacy since 1967 and, since 2000, a compounding laboratory on prescription for an identified patient. Stasinos Sikalias has continued it since 1998. The public title “founder” refers to that continuation, not to 1967.

Three things set it apart without rhetoric. First: compounding as formulation, not mixing. Second: pharmaceutical care in diabetes, self-monitoring devices, polypharmacy. Third: the same thinking was scaled, from 2012, at the Pharmaceutical Laboratories — without leaving the pharmacy.

A visitor does not need to know ICH, FTM or beyond-use dates. They need to know that a difficult prescription is not “impossible”. It is discussed with the prescriber, a form is chosen, stability is declared, a record is written. And that a glucose meter is not a shelf product: it is training.

The web shop is sikalias.gr. The scientific archive is sikalias.net. Here, on .org, the pharmacy appears as the building’s door: the place the neighbourhood enters without an appointment, during opening hours, and finds someone who knows the regimen.

If you come for a compounded medicine, bring the prescription. If you come for a measurement or a question about treatment, say so. If you come for something you saw online, the physical pharmacy remains the place of responsibility.
