Small things, useful jobs
After the paper windmill, use your imagination to find small things that do useful jobs.
You will need
Paper and coloured pencils. Use drawings or pictures only, with no small parts, food or supplements.
Let’s explore
- Turn off the screen and remember together what changed in Pico’s windmill.
- Draw three small things, such as a button, a bee and the centre of a paper windmill.
- Invite your child to describe each one’s job. A grown-up can write down their words.
- Draw a large part and a small part beside the windmill. Discuss which one suits this job, without using real parts.
- Add a question mark for something you would like to find out. The drawing helps us talk; it is not an experiment about our bodies.
Does being bigger always make something better suited to its job?
